I am excited to bring this card to you today! I have never been to a postcard show to shop for Disney cards…the vast majority of my vintage cards have been bought on eBay, and all of my newer cards were bought in person at the parks. In the case of this card, until I saw it on eBay the other day, I had never seen one of these for sale. It’s strange how some cards just seem to be so much more rare than others. I guess it’s to be expected, but part of me wonders how much of it was due to production, and how much due to the fact that the cards just never got purchased and languished away on the rack until they were tossed out.
In this particular case, I guess I can understand why someone would buy a picture of the Submarines or Sleeping Beauty’s Castle over this card. Those are far more iconic images from the park. This card is nice, but it isn’t a real standout image that says “Disneyland”.
Either way…I am ecstatic to have found this card! Collecting is all about the hunt…and finding this one was a treat.
