When I was putting the price guide together, I was having to take a number of “wags” on price categories of some cards as I just did not have any data. Some of you have graciously helped out with suggesting alternative price categories for some of the cards, and those have been implemented. But where I can, I like to see actual “sold for” values to assign a price category.
Today on eBay I noticed this card going for well over the “Common” category that it is presently listed in. So…given that, I decided to change this one to “Uncommon”. Would it get the same price tomorrow if another were offered? Unknown. But, we can certainly keep our eyes out to see what happens.
Until next time…
Full disclosure – I’m the one selling this postcard.
That said, this is one of those postcards that people often skip, thinking they already have it or thinking it’s common enough that they’ll pick it up eventually. It’s basically a “sleeper.” The reality is, it is at least “uncommon” and perhaps even more rare. It is kind of an odd looking postcard (behind a waterfall, just the skipper and a portion of the boat visible) and my guess is that when this one was originally for sale people would pass over it for more conventional views of the Jungle Cruise.
My two cents!
Hey Andrew..thanks for the post. That is interesting and I think your take is very accurate. I said to myself, “I have that card”. But, I don’t. I didn’t bid. No good reason, just didn’t…but I will be keeping my eye out for another
